The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network is seeking dedicated educators to serve on our Educator Advisory Board—a vital group that provides insight into the internal needs of schools, students, and teachers. Your voice is essential in shaping the programs and resources we provide to better serve educators and students across West Virginia.


As a board member, you will:

✔️ Advise on new initiatives and potential changes in teaching methodology.
✔️ Share challenges and relevant information from your school or district.
✔️ Help us ensure we meet the real needs of educators and students.

Volunteer Position Description

The Educator Advisory Council is a volunteer leadership group that provides valuable insight and guidance to help shape the programs and services offered by The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network. Its work directly impacts teachers and students throughout the state of West Virginia and beyond. This is a meaningful opportunity for dedicated educators to influence the future direction of The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network while serving as advocates for their colleagues and students.


The Educator Advisory Council plays a vital role in ensuring that The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network programs, policies, and initiatives are grounded in the genuine needs of educators and students. In addition to offering strategic insight into the evolving educational landscape, council members also serve as ambassadors, helping to raise awareness of the free resources available through Teachers & Students Empowerment Network.


KEY RESPONBILITY


Attend:


  • Two on-site or virtual meetings per year (tentatively in September and April), held after-school or during non-school days to provide feedback on programs, share updates from schools, and discuss opportunities for Teachers & Students Empowerment Network to better serve teachers and students.


  • The annual Teachers & Students Empowerment Network planning retreat (date t.b.d.), typically a 6–8-hour session.


Participate:


  • Provide periodic feedback to provide timely insights on specific topics and initiatives.


  • Advise The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network staff on:


  • Emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in schools.
  • Program design and shopping experiences.
  • Eligibility criteria and processes for schools accessing The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network services.
  • Effective engagement with teachers, schools, and key educational stakeholders.


  • Collaborate with Schoolhouse Supplies to advise programmatic decisions to ensure the organization’s services are responsive to evolving educational needs.


  • Help raise awareness of The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network offerings among fellow educators.


  • Offer guidance to help foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion that reflects the diverse voices and experiences of local educators and students.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Current faculty or staff in West Virginia Public School System or district office where the majority of students are eligible for free and reduced lunch.


  • Experience shopping with or participating in The Teachers & Students Empowerment Network programs (preferred).


  • Passion for educator advocacy, community engagement, and resource equity.


  • Willingness to share honest insights and creative ideas to enhance programs.
