Please review the following guidelines carefully before assembling your the daily journal. We conduct a thorough quality check on all submissions to ensure they meet our standards and can be used as intended.

  • DO read all instructions in full before beginning your project.
  • DON’T use cardstock for journal construction. Covers should be printed on colored copy paper, and the interior pages must be plain white copy paper.
  • DO use three evenly spaced, clean staples to bind each journal. If a staple is bent, misaligned, or does not fully penetrate the pages, please remove it and restable properly.
  • DON’T forget to enjoy the process! Consider hosting a journal-making session with friends or family—it's a great way to get everyone involved and have fun while contributing.

  • Can I or my group/organization make the daily journals?

"Absolutely! We would be thrilled to receive a donation of journals from you or your group or organization. We’d also be delighted to highlight your generosity on our social media channels!"

  • How can I or my group/organization sign up to make the daily journals ?

"No registration required! While we always appreciate a heads-up, you're welcome to create and donate journals whenever inspiration strikes."

  • What materials do I or my group/organization need to make journals?

"To get started, you'll need printed journal covers (front and back) on colored copy paper, white copy paper for the inside pages, and a sturdy stapler with staples. You can download and print the journal cover templates directly from our website. If needed, TTSEN also has a limited supply of printed covers and filler paper available. To arrange a pickup, please contact Jeff at outreach@ttsen.org."

  • Can I use any paper for the front cover of the daily journals?

"Please use standard 8.5x11, 24lb copy paper for the covers. We love vibrant colors like purple, blue, hot pink, and orange—these really stand out! Kindly avoid using cardstock, construction paper, or non-standard paper sizes."

  • How to we put the daily journals together?

"You can find detailed, step-by-step instructions on our website, but here’s a quick overview:

Start by counting out 10 sheets of white copy paper for the inside pages.

Place a front cover on top and a back cover underneath, making sure the printed sides face out.

Staple along the left edge where you'll see three marked spots.

The flat side of each staple should be on the front cover, with the ends neatly folded into the back."

  • Can I or my group/organization make the journals with different colors or different paper?

"To keep things consistent, all journals should follow the same format: colorful copy paper for the covers and white copy paper for the pages. Please avoid using construction paper, cardstock, or oversized paper like 11x17 folded in half, as these do not meet our standards."

  • How many daily journals do you need?

"With over 250,000 students across our region, our goal is to ensure each one receives a journal of their very own. We're reaching students in all 55 counties of West Virginia, as well as every public school in Lawrence County, Ohio."

  • How many daily journals do I or my group or organization need to make?

You can donate as many or as few as you like – we gratefully accept all contributions! Some donors give just a dozen or so, while others generously donate several hundred at once. We combine all donations when we bundle the journals for the store.

  • When do you need the daily journals by?

Our FREE store welcomes teachers for shopping from August through May, but we gladly accept donations all year long. Journals are available in the store throughout the entire shopping season.

  • Should our group or organization make an appointment to drop off the daily journals once completed?

We’d really appreciate a heads-up before you drop off your donation! Just reach out to Jeff at outreach@ttsen.org to schedule a convenient date and time. Drop-offs are welcome on any regular business day between 9 AM and 4 PM. Don’t forget to complete your Off-Site Project Submission form!
